At Lanzarote Retreats we understand that even the smallest gesture can count towards helping your local community, offering small local businesses the chance to thrive. In doing so, we are also able to provide our guests with the best local products and services. One prime example of this is the local produce hamper. We offer these to our guests as an optional extra. Everything in the hamper is organic and locally grown or produced, often by native islanders who have been farming the land for generations. Other examples include the fabulous Lanzarote wines we supply, or the promotion of nearby family owned restaurants, and excursions such as the guided walks with Jose of Blackstone trekking. This is a fantastic way to promote knowledge and awareness of the natural beauty here in Lanzarote.
Currently Lanzarote Retreats is the major sponsor for local football team Costa Norte and recently supplied the T-shirts for their new kit. Costa Norte (meaning North Coast) was established in 2006 as a club which organises various events such as the football, annual fishing competition and surf competitions. Lanzarote Retreats is very proud to be a part of this great organisation.

October 2012 Lanzarote Retreats sponsored the local Surf and Skate competition which took place at the famous surf beach on the island, Famara. We are also donating towards the GB surf team fundraising event coming up in 2013! Learn more about team member and Lanzarote Retreats family/Lanzarote surf expert Josh Braddock
We also sponsor the local bowling club, a very traditional and popular sport in the Canary Islands which has its own federation and league. Canarian bowls (bola Canaria) is a sport which requires great precision. The game bears many similarities to the game of pétanque. The objective of the game is to situate the bowl as close as possible to the target, referred to as the ‘boliche’ or ‘mingue’. There are areas dedicated to bola Canaria in almost every village.
