Puerto Calero is only a few kilometres in distance from the bustling resort of Puerto del Carmen, but a world away in style and atmosphere. Home to some of the finest Lanzarote villas and hotels, as well as a good selection of bars and restaurants. Before 1983 Puerto Calero did not exist until it was dreamed up by the developer José Calero as an exclusive retreat to provide a luxury marina, residential development and golf course for the island of Lanzarote.
The Marina is a great place to wander, look at the fabulous boats and generally soak up a bit of the luxury atmosphere that permeates the whole place. You can certainly spend a few hours sat in one of the cafes or great range of restaurants that overlook the marina.
Puerto Calero is the base for a number of water based activities, such as the Catlanza catamaran trips, Submarine excursions and a variety of sport-fishing boats which allow you to try your skill at landing Marlin and Blue-fin Tuna in some of the best and most productive waters to be found. There are also dive schools operating out of the Marina who offer instruction and guided dives from beginner through to advanced levels. The array of shops in Puerto Calero is not vast, but you will find some very nice boutiques alongside souvenir shops which are more upmarket than in the other resorts of Lanzarote.
Puerto del Carmen first got going in the Sixties and since then it’s upped the tempo from its fishing village roots to become the most popular tourist destination in Lanzarote. The waterside promenade doubles up as the main strip – it’s packed with bars, clubs and restaurants, and it also looks out over a trio of beaches. You still get a bit of Puerto del Carmen’s former charm, though, as you’ll see from the authentic eating places in the old town.
Puerto del Carmen comes with 3 sandy beaches. The main one, running along the promenade, is Playa Grande with its sunloungers, umbrellas and gently shelving shoreline. Walk for about 10 minutes and you come to Playa Chica in the old town. It’s a bit quieter and secluded, and the diving centre makes it popular with snorkelers and scuba divers. And to the east is Playa Pocillos – a huge swathe of sand with windsurf-ready waves.
Compleet uitgerust. Mooie ligging !
Fantastic property, beautiful location as the land falls away towards the sea with an infinity pool. Feels beautifully isolated without actually being isolated at all. Stayed here with my wife and two very young children and we had a great time - would 100% stay again next time we are back in Lanzarote.”
Villa Luna Mar. Lovely villa, as seen in images. Spacious and clean. Used the airport pick up service which was ideal. Was picked up by a very friendly young man ( Josh ). Very helpful and informative. The service from beginning to end from Lanzarote Retreats was really good.
Amazing villa, fantastic booking staff and pre arrival support. Would very much recommend booking with Lanzarote Retreats
There is only one thing to say: Excellent in service and location
An absolute favourite villa, the best on the island.
Helpful booking team.

Ample prior to arrival information sent.
Efficient support during holiday when needed.
Villa exactly as photos.
Amazing holiday!
Lovely peaceful location with stunning ocean views away from it all, but just a walk along the coast to Puerto Calero and Puerto del Carmen. The villa was decorated to a very high standard and immaculately kept. Comfy beds and good quality bed linen and towels (pretty rare to find nowadays!) We would 100% stay there again.
More amazing than you could imagine. Everything is such good quality, lovely outdoor dining, and living space. Lovely walk to both ports. Great snorkeling down the rocks in front of villa, amazing views, very stylish.
We had a fantastic stay here. It’s a very luxurious and comfortable villa in a stunning location. The staff at Lanzarote retreats were brilliant too.
We stayed in Villa Luna Mar the last two weeks of February and had a wonderful time. The villa itself is actually more beautiful than the on-line pictures can convey. We surely appreciated that we were chauffeured to the villa when we first arrived, being too travel-weary to safely navigate ourselves. Having our rented vehicle awaiting us at the villa was also a huge bonus. The location of the villa is the best. It is situated on the coast so that we could view the sea; no neighbours close by so that we could enjoy the awesome landscape that Lanzarote provides and yet just a 15 minute coastal walk to Puerto del Carmen or 45 minute walk to Puerto Calero for picking up small groceries and taking in the most glorious sea views while getting walking exercise. Stacy was the best manager one could ever hope for. The few times we had questions or problems that needed to be solved, she came through with immediate information and was an amazing support. Thank you, Stacy, for going far and beyond your managerial job. When we called you while stranded at the airport due to our flight out of Lanzarote being unexpectedly cancelled, you found us great place to stay the night. Renata was an expert at organising different tours for us to participate in, such as the Yellow Submarine and the wine tour which provided pick-up transportation so that all of us could take part in the wine-tasting. All in all, we highly recommend Villa Luna Mar and this team of very friendly and helpful people. Everyone went out of their way to provide us with the best vacation ever!
