The village of Arrieta has 400 inhabitants and is set in the northern municipality of Haria, the most traditional area of Lanzarote and ideal for the more independent traveller. This northern part of Lanzarote does not offer purpose-built resorts such as Costa Teguise, Puerto Del Carmen or Playa Blanca. Arrieta is a small traditional Canarian fishing village which has learnt to adapt to meet the demands of some low-key tourism. Among other things, the village offers wonderful seafront fish restaurants, a very good pizzeria takeaway and a supermarket. As with other villages in the north, Arrieta is peaceful, and tranquil and is ideal if you are looking to be away from the neon-lit bars and nightclubs found within the tourist resorts of Lanzarote.
Arrieta is one of the prettiest and most authentic fishing villages to still exist in Lanzarote today. It remains unspoiled and there is a rustic charm to many of its historic houses and coastal alleyways.
Arrieta boasts a beautiful beach called “Playa de La Garita” which has fine golden sand and is 810m long. This beach has a restaurant and beach bar and also WC/showers, parking and a play park. The waters generally remain calm throughout the year. This beach is ideal for first-time surfing, body boarding, sunbathing, swimming, wave jumping, sand castle making, sunrise spotting, fishing and dining at the beach bar or restaurant.
I wanted to rate them one star and write something really bad, just so no one else finds this place. That is how good it is, I want it just for me and my friends. Just a beautiful place, created with love by wonderful people
My husband and I have enjoyed a fantastic weekend at Finca de Arrieta in their Eco Yurt. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by Josh who showed us around and explained where everything was and how it all worked. There was a welcome pack of coffee, tea, sugar, milk, water, crisps and Cava. The Eco Yurt is set in its own private garden with an outdoor kitchen filled with everything needed for a self-catering holiday. There is also a BBQ, table and chairs and sunloungers. All yurts have their own private toilet block with shower.
Lanzarote Retreats at Finca de Arrieta is set in beautiful well kept grounds. The communal areas are well laid out with areas to relax and unwind. There is a pool, sunloungers, daybeds, shaded areas, honesty shop, BBQ area and information hut. The playpark for children looked fun and there are also hens, ducks and a couple of Donkeys.
Lanzarote Retreats take pride in being Eco friendly and guest are encouraged to save the water they use to water the plants and recycle their waste. After you finish the water in the welcome pack you can refill the bottle, for free, from a water cooler.
Finca de Arrieta is in very easy walking distance to the beautiful beach and village of Arrieta although you do have to cross a road that at times can be busy.
If you are after a relaxing holiday in the sun with excellent clean facilities and well kept communal areas where the staff are all polite and care about their guests, this is the place for you!
This is my second visit to this spectacular villa and it most certainly won't be my last! Casa Volcan is simply fabulous in every single way and if I'm honest the pictures fail to capture how spectacular it is. I rarely return to the same location twice but this stunning villa has captured my heart and provides the most stress free and memorable holiday ever while still maintaining the luxury of a five star hotel. You are picked up from the airport and handed a chilled glass of cava or water and driven to your villa. It's such a lovely touch and a great way to start your holiday. Casa Volcan is beautifully arranged to allow for huge space to be able to get some quiet reading time , plenty areas to sunbathe and also wonderful space to eat as a family or hold table tennis matches which was a favourite of ours! Tila, Michelle and everyone at Lanzarote Retreats know exactly how to impress their guests and their customer care is the best I have experienced. On this trip we were taken such good care of by Josh and I have to say a huge thank you to you. You are an absaloute gentleman and your hospitability was outstanding. I know one review mentions the lack of air conditioning. I can safely say Casa Volcan is so vast with an inner garden in the centre of two buildings and each sliding door can be left open a fraction at night and they have a safe lock and a fly guard installed so that you can feel the beautiful breeze from the sea as you drift off. Magical!!! There was also huge fans available in a lot of the rooms if needed but being on an elevated site overlooking the ocean allowed for a continuous breeze throughout the villa. The hybrid car is great and allows you to explore the island and find some magical places that one never gets to see if you stay in the more tourist areas. We went up the winding mountain roads, visited all the nearby villages and swam in the most spectacular lagoon which was only a ten minute drive from the villa. My children were in the pool for most of the day but also enjoyed the surf school at the nearby beach. Local eateries are very reasonable here and the local garage has a large supply of everything you may need ( from fresh bread rolls to Kerry Gold butter😀). However there is a lovely welcome pack in the villa and you can order in food for the BBQ or pre cooked meals and salads. If I'm honest all you really need when you come to this villa is your toothbrush and swimming gear. I cannot say enough about how magical this villa is and I am dreaming about our next visit already.
From the moment you arrive, the team at Lanzarote Retreats ensure you're in the holiday mode, with a bottle of Cava, during a fun an informative drive to your accommodation. Lanzarote surprised us from the moment we arrived, and certainly surpassed it's maligned UK reputation. The north of the island with it's sun, sand and sea shouts holiday, but there are also many subtler, more unexpected sights and experiences to be had on its wonderful craggy shores. Cesar Manrique has augmented the other worldly landscape with beautiful, art, architecture and cultural landmarks. There's also an abundance of activity, from surfing, hiking, road biking and sailing, something for everyone, at every age. We're converted to Lanzarote and will be back for sure.
Excellent place for families to chill and have a different holiday. Eco friendly and well laid out.close to the beach and some very good restaurants. If you want a holiday to recharge then I can think of no finer place to visit.
We have stayed at the Finca 3 times now and have stayed in the Eco Yurt, the Eco Chico Yurt and the Garden Cottage and have loved every single minute of our time there. It's an independent travellers dream and a great place to encourage children to see the world differently. Off-grid, the retreat is beautifully landscaped and the pools are great for children. Arrieta is a beautiful little Canarian town with a Supermacardo and good fish restaurants. Nearby Punta Majeres has some amazing sea pools and just ten minutes up the coast you can find a lagoon to snorkel in. The north of the island is paradise in comparison with the larger resorts down south. If you want to see the 'real' Canaries and experience something different then the Finca de Arrieta is a fantastic base.
Unusually I'm writing a pre-holiday review as I'm just packing for my fifth visit to Finca de Arrieta and I can't wait. My family (hubby and two kids, aged 10 and 14) love the Finca for many many reasons. But I guess for me, going back always brings something new. I'm not the kind of person who visits the same holiday destination, usually anyway, but Lanzarote, and indeed the Finca, never cease to bring us an amazing time (be that chilled out and relaxed with a book, or more high octane with jumps off the pier into the sea or superb days out on the Catamaran - Catlanza were awesome, I'd definitely recommend)! We've stayed in several of the accommodations. The Yurt Royale, Eco Beach Yurt, Eco Yurt and every one of them had their charms. They're all fitted out to a high standard (but remember this is eco living, not the Ritz, so there is a rustic charm that is really rather lovely whilst also being very homely). Most importantly (for me anyway), is the level of cleanliness. The linen is always spotless and the whole accommodation freshly clean and stocked with coffee, tea and even a bottle of fizz. We always meet a variety of interesting people when we're there (there's a really cool chill out area), and some people we've stayed in touch with. Tila and Michelle who own the property, really live and breathe the island, and always want the best for all their visitors (Tila has personally guided us on a few entertaining nights out ; ) There is a member of staff (the very lovely Sally and Heidi) on hand every day until around 2pm and they are both always happy to help with enquiries, recommendations or bookings (I sometimes make them a coffee when they're on their rounds). No query is too small, and they really do know the island like the back of their hand. I've written previous reviews with tips for days out and where to eat and I'd go so far as to call this a gastro island, the food is pretty amazing (try La Cantina in Teguise and La Frontera in Haria - both superb). When I visit the Finca, because I know my way around, my holiday begins the moment I open the door to one of the mongolian Yurts, you really will be amazed. In fact, I'm so comfortable, this time i'm going on my own for a short meditation break. Anyhow, as I'll be on my way this time tomorrow, i'll save more review for my return. But needless to say, I'm sure it'll be every bit as good as it always has been.
Staying at Finca de Arrieta was a real treat. It's beautifully designed with exceptional attention to detail. They really have thought of everything. A place where you can easily relax and unwind. I love that the whole place is run on solar and wind power. It's the first time that I've been somewhere that is completely off grid and still has all mod cons. And to top it all you can head to the chicken coup in the morning to pick up an egg for your breakfast. Absolutely loved everything about my stay here.
If you need to escape the stresses of everyday modern life this is perfect ! Even in high winds and cloudy days we where warm , cosy , and never bored . Getting up to the crow of the cockerel and collecting fresh eggs starts off the perfect day . Followed by feeding the friendly donkey ..how can it go wrong ! My daughter (age 11 ) never gets tired of the animals ,and is out on the trampoline ,or playing giant chess ,as opposed to playing on a tablet !! The beach is on your doorstep and on a sunny day you can even hear the waves .. This time we where in the Eco lodge which is fully equipped for self catering , and perfect for a small family or couple .. We have also stayed in the yurts which make you feel like a Moroccan princess . Amazing ! All you men book in for valentines day this one will get you lots of points ;) ..10/10 !!! Thank you finca de arrieta xx
We couldn't have had a better or more relaxing time at the Finca for our honeymoon. The relaxed pace of life and beautiful surroundings were the perfect antidote to a hectic wedding schedule. Right from the first enquiry I made the staff were fantastic. Helpful, professional, efficient and friendly. We booked the VIP airport transfer and from the off Sally was wonderful. We really enjoyed getting her 'insider' take on the island and it kick started our Lanzarote experience perfectly. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and very homely. The honesty shop is just brilliant. The welcome is so well organised (everything is so well organised really). This was a fantastic bonus for an over-planner like me. I really felt I could let my hair down and let the angel that is Sally take charge of all the details. (Please come and run our lives Sally!) We took advantage of several of the guided treks, La Graciosa and the volcano trek are unmissable and once again the local guides make all the difference to getting the most out of your trip. We really enjoyed getting to know our fellow guests on these treks and when bumping into each other around the finca. You can have privacy when you want it but there is also the opportunity to be a bit sociable if you want that too. Eat local. The restaurant on the beach is perfect. We loved the staff there and went back a few times. I could just go on and on but I don't want to spoil the surprises. Don't hesitate. Just go. We will be back ASAP :)
We had a great holiday here in March 2015. It was our first visit to Lanzarote and we had a four year old and four month old with us, so expectations were high. Finca de Arrieta was perfect for us! From the warm welcome at the airport, to the excellent common facilities and play areas, the car, the friendly and helpful staff - and of course 'our' beach (as my daughter called it) which really was just a short 5 minute walk away. Everything the iescape site said it would be and even better than we expected. The farmers box, dine in at home - and yoga! - were great additions and to be recommended. It is nicely balanced between the freedom of self catering, and the opportunity to be advised and supported by staff - and meet and talk with other guests. On top of all that the island was more beautiful and interesting than we had imagined - we will be back!
This was our third visit and we had another brilliant holiday. Please read my other reviews for the nuts and bolts as the concept is still the same. Improvements have been made to the play park and honesty shops since we were last year and I understand there have been lots of power upgrades that are invisible to us visitors but have been going on. I think that is the key to success here, always little improvements, always striving to make thing better but not loosing sight of what makes the finca a wonderful place for a relaxing family holiday. We still find new things to entertain, this time the lovely beaches near Orzola and the beaches of Papagayo. Lanzarote is a lovely place with many things to occupy your time no matter what you are into. If you want kids clubs and bars steer well clear of here but if you'd like a quiet, fun and memory filled holiday on a unique site run by lovely people then you'll not go wrong. We'll be back next year,
3 days here was not enough, i would have preferred a month! So welcoming and easygoing. I have all ready made enquiries for a months stay early next year (2016). A 5 min stroll to the beach and in every morning for the best way to revive for the day ahead. peaceful retreat with really friendly staff and various activities on offer. Cannot recommend enough.
Great location, very welcoming, quiet but close enough to easily walk to town. Excellent for exploring the northern part of the Island. We stayed in one of the yurts which was comfortable and good fun. Providing an eco car was a huge bonus which we really appreciated.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Finca de Arrieta. The yurts were comfortable with attention to design detail and the site pleasantly landscaped with white stepping stones to mark paths and private areas around each yurt. Beautiful relaxing seating around pool area. Our teenage kids enjoyed re-connecting with childhood, bouncing on the trampoline, dipping in the pool and stroking the 2 resident cats. Also fun going to see the donkeys and chicken huts. The team were very friendly and you really get the feeling it's well run with attention to every detail for comfort even down to a bowl with some essential items - tea and crisps etc - on arrival! Would definitely recommend it.
