The village of Arrieta has 400 inhabitants and is set in the northern municipality of Haria, the most traditional area of Lanzarote and ideal for the more independent traveller. This northern part of Lanzarote does not offer purpose-built resorts such as Costa Teguise, Puerto Del Carmen or Playa Blanca. Arrieta is a small traditional Canarian fishing village which has learnt to adapt to meet the demands of some low-key tourism. Among other things, the village offers wonderful sea front fish restaurants, a very good pizzeria take away and a supermarket. As with other villages in the north, Arrieta is peaceful, tranquil and is ideal if you are looking to be away from the neon lit bars and nightclubs found within the tourist resorts of Lanzarote.
Arrieta is one of the prettiest and most authentic fishing villages to still exist in Lanzarote today. It remains unspoiled and there is a rustic charm to many of its historic houses and coastal alleyways.
Arrieta boasts a beautiful beach called “Playa de La Garita” which has fine golden sand and is 810m long. This beach has a restaurant and beach bar and also WC/showers, parking and play park. The waters generally remain calm throughout the year. This beach is ideal for first-time surfing, body boarding, sunbathing, swimming, wave jumping, sand castle making, sunrise spotting, fishing and dining at the beach bar or restaurant.
The accommodation was beautiful! We didn't have breakfast. We have sometimes taken freshly prepared meals from the Honesty Shop which tasted very good. The vegetarian paella was delicious! The seafood paella wasn't that good unfortunately. Overall, we liked everything very much.
We had a really nice and relaxing time at the eco lodge. There’s everything for adults and kids - close to the beach, a pool, a play area and you can even plant your own cactus. It is in a less touristy part of Lanzarote but all the better - the light pollution was so low we could easily see the starry skies at night. Overall a unique stay.
We had a great time with our boys (age 5, 2 and 5 months). The staff are very helpful and thoughtful. We had everything we could wish for as a family. We spend our days with a trip in the morning, lunch at the beach, afternoon at the swimming pool. We loved the pool and daybed, chickens and donkeys, playground, all the toys, the paella evening, and the curry from Karen and Paul is delicious!! We’ve never had such a luxurious holiday, we might come back ;-).
Lanzarote is a truly fantastic island. It is so much better than I had thought it would be and I highly recommend it. We were there for a week and there was so much more we could have done to explore the island. Lanzarote retreats was the perfect place to do this. They were so welcoming, pick up from the airport, personal tour of the complex, booking on to activities as soon as you arrive. There is a real personal touch here that is excellent without being overwhelming. We stayed in the eco luxury lodge which was wonderful. The pictures don’t do it justice. We were so happy there. All the facilities were wonderful, short walk to the beach and the town and a Prius (eco car) thrown in on top was an a amazing touch. I really can’t recommend more highly. I never return to the same place twice for a holiday as I always want to do something different. However, lanzarote has much more to explore than we got the chance to and I would definitely go back to lanzarote retreats.
We've visited Finca de Arrieta every year for the past seven years and have always been delighted! It's beautiful, peaceful and situated near the beach in the most unspoiled part of the Island. Nothing is too much bother for the team. They are always there if you want or need anything, yet they are never in the way. The Eco Lodge is cosy and comfortable, and is the tenth accommodation our family has rented... another success! Finca is always peaceful and attracts lovely guests. This is a reflection of the owners (Michelle, Tila and Josh) and their philosophy. It's easy to trade on your success, but this team 'walks the walk'! This small 'eco-resort' is off the grid and is a great example of how to preserve and enhance a beautiful environment. Every suggestion for improvement, no matter how small, is considered and acted on immediately if it can improve your stay. If you're looking for a beautiful and peaceful location, run by people who care about this spectacular Island, look no further.
This was our second holiday with Lanzarote Retreats. Last year we stayed in one of their apartments in Punta de Mujeres which was spacious, clean and well equipped. This year we opted for the Eco Lodge on the Finca de Arrieta which was equally good in terms of accommodation, space, cleanliness and equipment and we had a brilliant few days. The Finca is off-grid, supp plied solely by solar and wind power, but there was never any shortage of hot water or power. The location is great, just 200m from a lovely sandy beach which also has an excellent restaurant, tapas cafe and funky VW camper mojito bar on it. At the Finca there is a small pool, an honesty shop, a sheltered communal area and children's play areas. There is a programme of activities on-site (yoga, paella evenings etc) plus bookable tours and excursions to a range of places around Lanzarote. Rental of the property also included a hybrid car so we took advantage of that to travel around and see a variety of stunning sites and to access walks up volcanoes, across lava fields and along the mountainous cliffs - stunning views everywhere we went. We would definitely recommend holidays with Lanzarote Retreats to this and any other of their properties.
We have just returned from the most fantastic 10 days in the Eco Lodge at the stunning Finca de Arrieta. This was our 1st holiday abroad with our 2 sons 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 and after considerable research we settled on Finca de Arrieta. There was not a single aspect we were disappointed with which just shows how much thought and consideration has gone into both the accommodation and the whole site/facilities of the finca. Combined with the stunning scenery, lovely weather (about 20-22 degrees most days), great local restaurants, and plentiful mini day trips we really had a wonderful time. The lodge worked perfectly well size wise for our family of 4. The kitchen/lounge/diner was a good size which was doubled when you opened the double doors onto the safe enclosed tiled patio which was perfect for the kids to play. In the evening we put the kids to bed in the (only) bedroom so we had use of the lounge/diner in the eve. We were grateful of this inside space as the sun had set by 7pm and the evenings were cool. When we went to bed we just transferred our 3yr old onto the sofa bed in the lounge. This worked really well for us. The play area right opposite the lodge was great. The sunken trampoline and pirate ship the firm favourites but one of the best things was that the whole park was sand underfoot so it was basically a giant beach/sandpit. With the great variety of toys available to use, such as multiple dumper trucks and buckets/spades this kept our kids entertained for hours. Being able to pop out after dinner for a sneaky bounce before bedtime will be a lasting memory for us!! The honesty shop was a real bonus and just another aspect that really makes things both easy and enjoyable. Our early mornings would be spent taking Molly the donkey an apple or carrot, taking the chickens our scrap food, checking for eggs, having a bounce (!) and heading to the shop for some milk and fresh bread to have with our eggs. And if the hens hadn't laid yet the shop always had plenty in the fridge. The prices were pretty reasonable and a good range of basics were stocked including kiddy snacks, as well as local wines and products. Also really liked the option of a dine in meal delivered to your accommodation and the 2 we had were really good quality - a really nice option when you have little ones in bed at 7 but want a break from cooking and a bit of a treat. We loved the pool area, day beds, toys and swim floats/rings and our 3 year old had a fantastic time in the pool. It was a little bit chilly for our 1 year old but he was quite happy filling dumper trucks with gravel or patting the very friendly (and tolerant!) cats. The pool is still very usable in March I'd say. We met loads of lovely people on site and really enjoyed watching our kids make new friends. Its hard to combine 2 kids under 4 and the word relaxed in the same sentence but this place gets you as close as you'll ever get in our opinion. Thank You to Sally and all the wonderfully friendly staff onsite. This place is an absolute gem and we'll certainly be back, hopefully bringing more of our friends to share the fun!
We stayed with our 2.5 year old in the Eco Lodge. It was well equipped, comfortable and the chickens were a hit! The staff were all helpful, the hybrid car was a great idea to include in the price and the curry delivery from Brown's Deli on the Friday night was very tasty. Over all a happy holiday (despite not the best weather) was had by all 3 of us.
My husband and I made the long journey from Bend, Oregon to the Canary Islands and we could not have asked for a more perfect retreat than the one we found at this incredible, perfect eco-lodge right along what felt like our own private beach in Lanzarote. From Cluckingham Palace (where we collected eggs daily to prepare our own simple breakfast) to the bustling fresh fish restaurant across the way, to the epic day trips we made in our complimentary Prius (think wine country, cactus gardens, lookouts, even Isla Gracioisa which we then traversed on bikes) - this was truly our little piece of heaven. Glamping at its absolute best. And yes, we will travel halfway around the world to return to this place - given everywhere we've been and everywhere else still on our list - this is the highest compliment I can give. Thank you!
We couldn't have asked for a nicer time staying in the Eco Lodge at Finca de Arrieta. Our 2 year old adored Mollie the donkey and it was so nice taking her to collect fresh eggs from the hens each morning.
The Lodge itself was kitted out with absolutely everything we needed for an 8 night stay - we wanted for nothing and it was great to have the option of the odd meal delivered from Browns Deli - their pies and potato salad were fantastic!
All in all the Finca is in a great location just a short walk from the beach and all the staff are hugely friendly and accommodating.
Not much else to say except we hope to return in the not too distant future.
My husband and I and our two sons (4 & 1) had a wonderful holiday at Finca de Arrieta. The resort had great attention to detail - solar fairy lights as we wandered home from the gorgeous local beach, a safe play area with toys for the kids near the pool and the quirky playground with the ever-entertaining trampoline! Our lodge had everything we needed for self-catering and the bed was comfortable. We were accommodated when we needed an extra bed near ours for our son which was ideal. On the down side we had a few days of bad Mosquitos but in fairness Tilla took note of where the lodge needed sealing better to prevent this. We also had a hot water issue - we didn't get a lot! Again though this is being dealt with currently. Other families didn't seem to have the same experiences so it was perhaps a one-off. Our kids LOVED the animals and a highlight was collecting eggs and feeding the crazy ducks lettuce! The holiday was just the ticket - enough for the kids to do but not so much that it wasn't peaceful. Thanks so much!
My 14 year old daughter and myself stayed in the lodge first week in August. We were very impressed with the accomodation, (my daughter loved her comfy big bed settee!), the finca, Arrieta, the island and the variety of things to do! The lodge had everything we needed, was well kitted out, and from the shower you have a great view of the sea. The finca was delightful, the pool lovley, and the chill out area was peaceful and relaxing. The honesty shop was very convenient, well stocked and easy to pay for. Sally was a font of knowledge and arranged trips for us as needed.
The island itself was stunning, a fab rugged coastline and the roads were easy to drive along!! I am a nervous driver and managed quite well allowing us to see so much more.
The trip to La Graciosa was well worth it, truly amazing beaches and a very informative guide. We visited 3 of the Cesar Manrique attractions, and they were totally unique and stunning!!!
We ate out 4 nights in Arrieta and was pleasantly surprised at how cheap it was, and very tasty local food.
I would love to return and am hoping to plan a trip with girlfriends for 4 nights for my 50th in a couple of years!
The whole holiday surpassed my expectations. A great find!
