The village of Arrieta has 400 inhabitants and is set in the northern municipality of Haria, the most traditional area of Lanzarote and ideal for the more independent traveller. This northern part of Lanzarote does not offer purpose-built resorts such as Costa Teguise, Puerto Del Carmen or Playa Blanca. Arrieta is a small traditional Canarian fishing village which has learnt to adapt to meet the demands of some low-key tourism. Among other things, the village offers wonderful sea front fish restaurants, a very good pizzeria take away and a supermarket. As with other villages in the north, Arrieta is peaceful, tranquil and is ideal if you are looking to be away from the neon lit bars and nightclubs found within the tourist resorts of Lanzarote.
Arrieta is one of the prettiest and most authentic fishing villages to still exist in Lanzarote today. It remains unspoiled and there is a rustic charm to many of its historic houses and coastal alleyways.
Arrieta boasts a beautiful beach called “Playa de La Garita” which has fine golden sand and is 810m long. This beach has a restaurant and beach bar and also WC/showers, parking and play park. The waters generally remain calm throughout the year. This beach is ideal for first-time surfing, body boarding, sunbathing, swimming, wave jumping, sand castle making, sunrise spotting, fishing and dining at the beach bar or restaurant.
The Lanzarote Retreats is ideal for families like ours who are looking for tranquility and proximity to the sea. My children were delighted with the surfing at Arrieta and the ease of using your boards and walking to the beach couldn't have been better planned! Michelle and Tila's concept is great. The idea of the honesty shop enchanted me and the fact that one can go to them according to the needs is to be thankful. And of course for recycling and responsible use of resources lovers this site is fantastic! We enjoyed Lanzarote very much and thank you for all your suggestions!
"Something completely different", our taxi driver from the airport had told us, and that proved true: a great holiday experience with exceptional accommodation, wonderful surroundings and always helpful and cheerful staff. Enjoyed tremendously. Not cheap but definitely worth it.
We booked for the Eco-Romantico week. Excellent retreat and authentic location, no chain outlets/fast food/night clubs . All staff (and resident cat!) were approachable and helpful. The Honesty shop and fridge were a fantastic addition. Well done Josh for organising the \"Adults only\" week.
We had a fantastic stay at finca da arrietta. Our accommodation was perfect for our family of two adults and a young child and baby. We loved the ethos of the place and it was such a good size for young children. The honesty shop was a great feature, as were all of the themed nights and Pilates/yoga classes. It feels like a lovely community there and we cannot wait to return.
We have just had such a fantastic week staying in Eco Casita with our 2 year old daughter. So relaxing and calm with lots to do. No technology was bliss, she spent her week playing at the park, feeding the donkeys, collecting the eggs and playing by the pool and on the beach. Tila and Michelle have thought of everything and Finca De Arrieta is such a beautiful and quirky place that we would definitely return to and recommend to our friends. We loved the non touristy town and the restaurants down on the beach, especially the mojito bar which is a VW van, we loved sitting there and watching the surfers whilst our daughter played at the park. All in all, the perfect week, we will be back, perhaps when it is a little warmer so we can enjoy the pool! Thank you everyone at Finca De Arrieta!!!
Fantastic small village of eco-living with peaceful surroundings, beach nearby, and warm family feeling. Great selection of different accommodations; we stayed in Eco Casita, perfect for a couple, with our own large front yard. Donkeys, chickens, ducks, swimming pool, honesty shop, Paella& sangria night, super helpful staff, even a quiet yurt for your daily yoga/meditation... No wi-fi or telly in the cottage meant we got to read books and chill out without news and social media. Even the weather was perfect combo of sunshine and warmth to banish the December blues! Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in seeing how to holiday off-grid, in quiet and cosy home-village. Donkeys, chickens, a cat... It was perfect for us. Will be going back.
Stayed in Eco Casita and Eco Garden Cottage. Both lovely - we found the bed really comfy in the Garden Cottage. Eco Casita has a nicer garden area. Both are kitted out nicely. Lots to do for the children - make friends in the parks, football, pool area, feed chickens and donkeys. It's a short walk to the beach which does cross a main road, but there's very little traffic on the island so a little wait to cross safely made it problem free. The beaches in Arrieta are lovely, as are the little restaurants lining the shore. Amazing boutique right at the end of the street that follows the shore line, nearest the red bricked building.
Lots of extra things to book up at the Finca - yoga, kids movie night and a beautifully home cooked meal every night if it's tricky going out with little ones. My daughter cried most of the way home as she wanted to stay to play with her friends. She now keeps asking when we can return!
This place is really geared up for families, but they are doing an adult only week in March this year. Theres so much to do on the island which doesn't have fo be expensive. Loads of towns to wander around, great volcano action, tonnes of lovely beaches and the Cesar Manrique buildings are amazing.
We can't wait to return and have a massive case of post holiday blues right now. Thank you to the lovely Renata for all your helpful cheery advice.
We spent 1 week here and loved it. Tila and all the staff were brilliant and really helped make our holiday the best it could be. We will definitely be returning.
Just came back from a week staying in Eco Casita and I have only great things to say about the whole experience. Whether it was being picked up from the airport by Pete, being assisted on site by Renata or being dropped back to the airport by Josh, nothing was too much trouble. Loved feeding the chickens and the donkeys, loved the accommodation and pool etc. Highly recommend the food deliveries, seemed expensive but in reality are great quality and value. All in all a perfect first visit to Lanzarote and we will no doubt return. Thanks to all the team at Lanzarote Retreats
We just left Lanzarote Retreats. To preface this review, we are a family of 4 from Houston, Texas. Our boys are 6 and 8. As we were departing, my son said "Wow, we had so much fun without a TV".
Traveling across the country and choosing an accommodation for a family can be stressful. However, my fears were immediately alleviated when I received my the initial reply e-mail from Karen. She assured me that Lanzarote Retreats was the perfect destination from my family. Even before we secured our reservation, the staff at Lanzarote Retreats has been amazing!
My family and I were picked up at the the airport by the extremely sweet and kind, Josh. Running around the airport is stressful, but his demeanor immediately put as at ease.
We stayed in the Eco Casita room. My children were welcomed and made comfortable by the staff. After arrival, we received a tour of the beautiful property, which included how to get eggs from the coops and how to feed the chicken and the donkey. Renata made our stay pleasant.
The room was amazing as well. We had a full kitchen, outdoor area, and bedroom. It was nice to be able to grocery shop at Spar, bring the groceries back to our accommodation, and BBQ with my family.
My Suburban American children learned so much from their stay. I'm a bit embarrassed to say, but until his stay, they didn't know that chicken eggs from a chicken coop were edible. They naively believed that eggs had to come from a store.
Guests are encouraged to recycle EVERYTHING and give scrap food to the chicken. Their focus on preserving the environment is a central theme in their resort.
If you are looking for a place to sit back, watch TV, internet surf, and waste your days away, I don't recommend Lanzarote Retreats. However, if you are looking for an accommodation with an amazing staff, beautiful grounds, and the ability to enjoy nature, and bond with your family, I highly recommend Lanzarote Retreats!
We have loved our stay at the Finca in the gorgeous Eco Casita. Renata is brilliant and booked all our trips and was always available with a smile.
Really great place – I´ll be recommending it and will happily return.
Seven of us had a wonderful week here spread between the luxury yurt - which lived up to its name - and Casita with a baby yurt in the garden. Ages ranged from 6 to 76. The children loved being able to wander about, made friends within minutes, collected eggs, enjoyed the pool. Excellent child-friendly restaurants are within easy walking (with a torch!). We experienced the worst rain storm in living memory and Casita flooded (the luxury yurt lived up to its name and didn't) but the staff were wonderful. Do take the Blackstone's volcano tour - we all thought it the best guided tour we had ever had.
Lovely place, even in the winter! We have enjoyed our stay in Eco Casita very much. No tv, no radio, no internet nor telephone has been a relief. The breakfast with the new laid eggs by the girls is something that we will never forget.

We really enjoyed our week in Eco Casita at the end of May. Melissa particularly enjoyed the boat trip to La Graicosa and flying kites with Kirsty on the deserted beach.
We had a lovely time at Eco Casita in early February. We found the atmosphere at the retreat really relaxing and our 3 year old daughter absolutely loved it. She really enjoyed playing with the cats and riding the donkey and thought your trampoline was the best ever! We found Lanzarote a very interesting place to visit with plenty of things to do even in the winter. We found the recommendations given by Sally and the information booklet really helpful.
Thank you for a lovely break
We had such a wonderfully relaxing holiday. If you want to get away from the stresses of day to day life, this place is perfect. Molly the donkey is so cute and loves to be fed watermelon :)
We had a great week in the Eco Casita in early September. The weather was pretty hot so we weren't indoors very much - the covered terrace was a great resource, as was the shared swimming pool. Sally printed out some walks for us and we had some fun adventures walking up to Haria, and exploring inside a volcano crater! The Casita is comfortable and fairly spacious for a couple, but be warned the ensuite is walk-in (ie no door, though it's screened off) so it doesn't do to be too shy! We liked the general ethos of the Finca - the laid-back atmosphere, complimentary welcome pack and fizz, the 'honesty shop', etc - and we're already recommending it to friends, especially those with children...
We had a lovely time in the Eco Casita. Lanzarote is a small island with an exotic landscape, we enjoyed lounging in the Casita's black gravel garden whilst its palm trees made their sound like falling water, in reply to the constant wind ruffling their leaves. We saw that a lot of effort has gone into making an aesthetically pleasing environment in Finca Arrieta. It is is relaxing and quite beautiful and an ideal base from which to explore the island, both within the immediate locality and further afield. Also our hosts were approachable, friendly and helpful which added to our general appreciation of this as a holiday destination. The facilities are child friendly which is essential for us. Also the entire finca is off-grid despite which we noticed no impairment in the quality of our stay over against conventionally powered accommodation. We also appreciated the honesty shop and the washing machine, and our daughter loved all the animals especially the 2 cats. Also the finca staff were very helpful in arranging excursions, discounted ferry tickets etc. and we made full use of these.
