Such a cool place to stay. Amazingly enormous yurt with a whole garden to ourselves. Nice pool area. So many activities to do. Loved the honesty fridge / shop. Super friendly staff. Just amazing all over!
Our holiday at Finca de Arrieta was truly wonderful. The first accomodation that we stayed on was the yurt Royale, the biggest of the many yurts. It was amazing with great bed and a nice open space outside. The second area that we stayed in was the eco farmhouse and we stayed on this house for the majority of our time. All the staff were extremely friendly, especially Renata, who I would like to give particular praise to for her helpful wishes towards us. We definitely come back again and we will not forget Molly and gnasher the donkeys.
This accommodation is absolutely amazing. Starting from the yurt over to the outdoor kitchen, daybed and great little castle type of structure for the dining table. All of this so close to the beach and you even have sea views!! This is the best place to disconnect and recover from all the stress back home. If however one is more into active holidays, there is lots to do from surf lessons to wine tours!!
An airport pick up, a glass of Cava and we were whisked off to Lanzarote Retreats. Our accommodation was a majestic Yurt, set in an eco friendly village of varying sized Yurts, with private walled gardens, and private kitchen and dining areas. . An honesty shop , stocking essentials , meant the hire car was resting too.. The Eco village was borne out of an imagination that things could be different. That holidays can be fun filled, exciting and interactive yet be low impact on surrounding environments The pool is small and safe and perfect for children, and the lovely sandy beach is a 5 min stroll. The Retreats location, on the quiet north east coast of the island , is perfect for exploring the contrast and diversity of Lanzarote. The historic town of Haria and the Valley of a Thousand Palms is only 7kms away inland set high in a mountain range contrasting the idyllic setting of the Yurts, far below, staring peacefully over the Atlantic Ocean.. This is a holiday with the Wow factor. This is a holiday, embracing solar energy, where waste water is re-cycled for use on hardy flowering plants , Cacti and Palms . This is beach, this is mountains. This is unwinding on a different level. This is Lanzarote Retreats. This is simply an amazing place to holiday. Tony Dillon Cornwall UK
As we approach Arrieta village, we see the tops of white-and-blue Mongolian yurts sticking out of a large enclosed area. We have arrived at Finca de Arrieta, Lanzarote Retreat's flagship property with fifteen eco-friendly yurts, cottages, and villas. Tony and I are here to experience their luxury tent Eco Yurt Royale. I like the sound of it. And something tells me, you don't have to be royalty to enjoy Michelle's and Tila's high-end glamping setup.
After Sally from guest relations takes us to our walled compound, Tony and I start to explore. As we step into the Mongolian yurt, our jaws drop onto a colorful woven rug with a bold image of a tiger on it. The first thing that hits me is the size of the yurt. It's ten meters across and offers enough space for a family of six or more; this is much larger than a standard yurt. I feel like going for an indoor run. The subdued light warms the heavy red canvas wrought into shape by a series of towering poles and lattice walls. It's a space where Mongolia meets Southeast Asia. A slender Thai Buddha statue sits in the middle of the yurt surrounded by four beds and a selection of Mongolian and Balinese hardwood furniture. I look up at the covered skylight in the crown. Surprise rain showers can be an issue at this time of year, so we leave it firmly closed.
We step out of the dazzling yurt onto the terrace which faces a little desert garden. I immediately head over to the spacious outdoor kitchen, read the welcome note and go through the contents of the gift basket. Everything is so thoughtful. I stash the snacks away and put the sparkling Cava on ice. While Tony relaxes in the open-air bathtub, I stretch out on the wicker sofa in the lounge area paging through a coffee table book on Lanzarote Island. We've only been here for half an hour, but it feels right. This is our kind of accommodation. Our Eco Yurt Royale even comes with a distant ocean view from the elevated Balinese-inspired bamboo dining gazebo. Not too shabby!
Finca de Arrieta is certainly Tila's and Michelle's most unique property. The fifteen luxurious villas, Mongolian yurts, and grass-covered cottages true to Manrique's natural building style are set up for self-catering. A convenient on-site honesty shop allows guests to find anything from pasta to fruit to charcoal.
The finca also refreshingly remembers that luxury doesn't preclude fun. Children (and adults) can enjoy the bouncy trampoline, play a game of oversized chess, or take a plunge in the trough. That's right, what used to be a water trough for farm animals is now a luxurious white-washed solar-heated swimming pool. The repurposed trough-pool is just one shining example of their eco spirit and definitely one of my favorite features of the finca. But there's more. Everything on the premises is wind and solar-powered, and some of the higher-end accommodation comes with a Toyota hybrid car perfect for taking an environmentally-friendly spin around Lanzarote.
We came at Easter 2015 for the second time, and it was really lovely. The Yurt Royale is absolutely beautiful and (very) comfortably sleeps our family of 4 (kids aged 7 & 3). Can't recommend highly enough for a family holiday - collection from the airport is instantly relaxing. The pool & kids' play area at the Finca are excellent, and the Hybrid car included with the yurt made local travel a doddle. Arrieta itself is a picturesque and beautiful place, the beach is 5 mins walk from the Finca, and the local restaurants are very good. All in all a relaxing and enjoyable family holiday, we'll be going again for sure!
We spent a relaxing 7 nights in the Eco Yurt Royale. The yurt and its attached bathroom, kitchen, living space and courtyard were beautiful and really did have the wow factor. We were all thrilled to be staying somewhere that looked so lovely and as there were only four of us we had masses of space. The only downside for us was the lack of natural light. As the evenings were really windy (last week of May 2015) we did retreat to the yurt early but couldn't read as it was too dark. The kitchen, bathroom and courtyard areas were spacious, well equipped and clean and the kids loved chilling out on the daybed with a book. The communal areas were very well kept and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The kids were kept entertained with the park area, trampoline and collecting eggs from the chickens. The only thing I would change would be the pool - it really is small and not really suitable for more than two people swimming laps. But, it is handy to have a place to dip your toes when the days heat up. The honesty shop is well stocked and reasonably priced and it really adds to the laid back vibe of the finca. The car included with the yurt made get around the island a breeze and it really is worth exploring. Sally gave us lots of tips on how to make what we wanted to do suitable for our family (children aged 4 and 8) so we could all enjoy the island. In all, this was one of the most laid back holidays we've had with kids and is perfect if you're not really into big resorts, but want something a little different than a villa. The whole finca is beautiful, chilled out and perfect for a family holiday that will keep everyone happy
We stayed during May half term in the Yurt Royale and it was a brilliant holiday where they have thought of everything. The accommodation is amazing and furnished beautifully. If you are travelling with children everything you might need is already there from footstools and high chairs to plastic cups and cutlery. We had a large kitchen which had everything we needed to cook but the food from Browns deli is delicious as well and they are large portions which magically appear in your fridge in the day you haven\\\'t ordered them for. The honesty shop has anything you might need from pasta to water and suntan lotion. It was brilliant not to have to worry about finding a hire car after a long flight and the hybrid car which came with the holiday was perfect. Communal areas are spotless and well designed and each yurt is quite private with nobody overlooking anyone else. The swimming pool is bracing but gorgeous - you just have to watch younger children as the sides can be a bit slippy. We visited the national park, did a day trip to Graciosa island and Rancho Texas which were great day trips. Everything is very accessible as the island is quite small and Sally is on hand if you need any inspiration. The beach is a stones throw away with some great restaurants. There is a road between the yurts and the beach but I can honestly say we didn\'t hear it during our stay - the wind can be noisier! Lovely to be "off grid" in such luxury and we will definitely be going back!
The six days we spent at Finca de Arrieta were just superb. The Eco Yurt Royale was fabulous and even more glamourous than it looks in the photographs. If you are looking to treat yourselves to somewhere special, do it, its worth it. Everything is extremely comfortable. We relaxed straightaway and that's how we stayed. No pressures, everything we needed to hand, Michelle, Tila and their back up team have been very thoughtful in what is supplied. Sally was lovely, so friendly and helpful. We loved the outside living, even when it was raining and a bit windy, sitting on the comfy sofa, reading, chatting, drinking, eating but still out in the fresh air, just wonderful - you were right Sally it really is "glamping".
We met some of the other guests, everyone so friendly and enjoying themselves, the place just leans to it. We were there on our own and enjoyed the peace and quiet but so enjoyed seeing the children around having such a good time and will certainly consider returning either with friends or family, would love to bring the grandchildren, they would have a ball.
We needed the car (I have a dodgy knee) but did manage to walk down to the beach, although we had to cross the road as the underpass path is vey low to bend down to get through. It was not a problem but it is not recommend that you walk back up the road at night. Wind up torch supplied, which you would also need if you wanted to go to out to the bathroom at night, but there were the moon and stars to guide you too, not to mention the solar lights, it was lovely, take a constellation map with you, you could lose some sleep sitting out there studying the stars (mind you I am sure "the team" would have come up with one if I had asked.)
To sum up - if you are thinking about going, book it, you will have a relaxed, great time, whether as a family or a couple.
This property was above and beyond our excited expectations. It was complete luxury to the max with a perfect relaxed, helpful vibe in the grounds. The staff were totally amazing and the area of our Yurt completely private so we felt tremendously relaxed by the time we got home. It was a complete haven for our toddler who is still talking about the animals. The beach close by was very clean , relaxed and safe and the local eateries fab. We also did the Finca family BBQ on the monday - yummy and my husband went out on Tila surf trip which was also great. 100% recommended. We are just trying to work out when we can get back!
This is our second stay at the Finca De Arrieta. The Eco Yurt Royale was gorgeous. The beds are big and super comfy. The outside area feels very private and the daybed and outdoor bath felt really luxurious. My 2 year old daughter loved having outdoor baths - particularly when mum or dad jumped in with her!
When little one had gone to bed we loved eating in the raised dining area at night and looking out towards the sea view + we probably indulged in a little too many bottles of wine spurred on by the seeming limitless supply in our honesty wine rack.
It is a great retreat for young children with so much to do. Our daughter loves collecting eggs in the morning, and thoroughly enjoyed a ride on Molly the donkey. All the toys around the pool area and in the yoga area are great for kids to play with and mean that you don't have to cart loads of toys from home.
The onsite honesty shop is great if you've forgotten to pick up any essentials and the pool area is great for kids and adults. We didn't swim in the pool in January because it was a little too cold but it was great this time in September. Our daughter especially loved the little pool because she could stand up.
We love going to the Lagoon near Orzola because its like a natural swimming pool and great for little ones learning to swim because they're not constantly being knocked over by waves + gave us lots of opportunities to watch the fish and collect little crabs.
We also love Famara beach for surfing + El Risko, Famara restaurant for their tuna carpaccio!
Sally, Michelle and Tila couldn't offer a more hospitable welcome. You really don't feel like anything is too much trouble for them. That on top of gorgeous eco accommodation and year round sun - we'll definitely be back.
We returned from 3 days in the Yurt Royale and had a great holiday. The Yurt is fabulous and the car hire is a great addition. It was great for our family although my son is still at the pebble-eating stage so really couldn't be trusted with the gardens! The day-bed, candles and radio provided made for a really relaxed evening when our baby was asleep. The cats, chickens and dog were great successes and provided hours of entertainment! The paella night was great and a good chance to meet other visitors and owners.
The honesty shop is a fantastic idea as we arrived late in the evening but we were still able to have a fresh breakfast before heading off to village to buy supplies. I recommend using the dinner service from Brown's deli as the food was superb and easy to arrange.
In conclusion, this is a great holiday resort and there are so many different accommodations to choose from, that I think there is something for everyone. The area is great and I hope we will return. So unusual and nicely done.
We had five days in the yurt royale ...lots of baths outside, and lounging on the comfy day bed and inside our super posh yurt.....very peaceful and romantic, and the local town and beach were fab...good food and unspoilt.... we will be back! the team were also very helpful and kind to us....
Arriving at Finca De Arrieta was a bit like landing in some kind of paradise that we thought must have surely disappeared in the halcyon holiday days of the 80s. it was as if Ryan Air and the Costa Del Developments had never actually happened.
The Finca staff were so accommodating and friendly- Tila, Michelle and Sally went out of their way to make us feel welcome, their tips about the island were priceless from beaches to Fish restaurants...as a result we really felt that we got to see the more exceptional parts of this unspoilt place which would have taken us a few trips to cotton on to otherwise...it was a bit like being granted an Islanders little black book.
There's as much or as little to do as you like. We opted to- Climb a Volcano;stroll on a lunar landscape; eat at El Lago, and Amancer and drink too much wine during live music at La Cantina; swim and surf at Famara; listen to Tila's tales of the Island on the trip to Graciosa, get obsessed with the Manrique trail....
Lanzarote felt like more than just a holiday spot, and this is more than just another luxury crash pad with an angle, this was a sincere feeling place that makes you feel genuinely lucky to have visited.
And did I mention Molly the Donkey and the chickens, and the honesty shop...and the free car...?
This place was really something else.
We could not recommend it highly enough and will certainly be back!
Just the most fabulous holiday! Thanks so much to the team at Lanzarote Resorts for making our stay so fantastic and especially to Sally, who dealt with every request from birthday cakes to submarine bookings.
The yurt is more beautiful than any of the photos suggest and it's gigantic! The outdoor space has a flavour of Asia, which as an Asian expat I adored. The children loved every moment and quickly found friends around the pool. Highly recommended and we can't wait to come back.
