Jardín del cactus
Cactus Garden (Jardín de Cactus) is located in the town of Guatiza in the municipality of Teguise, an area on the Northwest of the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.
It’s easily recognized due to the sculpture designed by César himself, that has more than 8 meters tall and simulates a gigantic cactus.
It has as more than 450 species of cactus and a total of 4.500 crops. You’ll find cactus of every size and shape that have been brought from America, Africa and even some regions in the Canary Islands.
The green shade of the plants stands out against the blue sky and the dark volcano creating a harmonious explosion of colour that impresses visitors. The only sounds that break the peace and quiet that prevails, are singing birds and buzzing insects, enjoying their very own oasis. High volcanic ash monoliths, that maintain the memory of years gone by, challenging plants from America, Africa and Oceania. At the top, on a small hill, windmills can be seen on the horizon, still standing, where Canarian cornmeal was ground dating back to the 19th Century.
To get here we recommend you to rent a car in Lanzarote and head to Guatiza in the municipality of Teguise, through the LZ-1 and take the exit to Guatiza.
