Lanzarote’s long history of viniculture has resulted in a rich diversity of Bodegas (wineries), with over twenty still producing wine on the island, most of which are open to the public and are located on the LZ30 that runs from the Museo del Campesino in Mozaga through the La Geria wine region.
Bodega Rubicon is situated in La Geria, in the centre of the island of Lanzarote and was established in a XV country house. It started off in 1979 making wine using traditional wooden presses, stone wine-presses and cement tanks to store the wine. Rubicón winery grows its wines in land covered by black ash resulting from the volcanic eruptions which in 1736 gave rise to the National Park of Timanfaya.
Bodegas Rubicon offers visitors a free, open-house entry to their Yaiza winery. So, you’ll be able to visit the barrel, exhibition, and tasting rooms, along with the old family home. Larger groups can get in touch with the bodega in advance to arrange a guided visit.
It also has a shop selling wine and other traditional food products from the island as well as a restaurant.
The Bodegas Rubicon restaurant offers you the chance to taste Canarian dishes and delicious tapas and, of course, all plates can be paired with Rubicon wines. It is located in the oldest room of the property where the first lagar was originally built. Its architecture and interior design are in the typical Canarian style. You will be able to enjoy an unforgettable meal in the shadow of centenarian eucalyptus overlooking the vineyards and the Timanfaya National Park. Open Daily 11:00 – 20:00
